16. Compression Test Adapter¶
16.1. Compression Test Adapter¶
The Compression Test Adapter, CTA, is an optional jaw assembly for the General-Purpose Mobile Conversion Unit MCU. The Compression Test Adapter (CTA) is used for uniaxial compression or plane strain compression studies. It allows for high strain-rate deformation while eliminating overshoot on the final deformation. The addition of spacer shims alters the hard stop location of the CTA. By over programming the compressive stroke the CTA is forced into the hard stop. This eliminates and ramp down, overshooting, or oscillations in the stroke movement
The CTA utilizes the Jaw to Jaw L-Gauge to measure the amount and rate of compression.
For anvil assemblies and consumables see Plane Strain Studies or Uniaxial Compression Studies.
