30.1. Thermocouple Welder¶
The 35200 Thermocouple Welder is used to attach individual thermocouple wires to Gleeble specimens for the purpose of temperature measurement and control. The unit consists of an integrated welding jig and controller. The jig holds the specimen and feeds the thermocouple wire during the weld. A movable guard is lowered over the jig prior to the weld to protect the operator from sparks, flash, and electric shock. The controller allows the operator to set the desired weld voltage manually, or through the use of four pre-programmed presets, and to initiate the weld itself.

30.2. Thermocouple Wire¶
There are many types of thermocouples which can be used for testing. Depending on the temperature range, different thermocouple types can be chosen. The most commonly used thermocouples in Gleeble testing are Type K and Pt Rh-Pt types such as Type S, R, and B. Gleeble GTC and 500 series systems can support additional thermocouple wire types not shown below. Contact Dynamic Systems for additional information regarding the use of alternate thermocouple wire types.
Non-contact temperature measurement is available with an optional Pyrometer Control Camera.
Gleeble systems are capable of recording specimen temperature with various thermocouple wire types. The following types of thermocouple wire can be used on any Gleeble system.

TC wire types C, K, J, and E have a nominal wire diameter of 0.254 mm (0.01 in). TC wire types R, S, and B have a nominal wire diameter of 0.2032 mm (0.008 in).

30.3. Thermocouple Measurement Assemblies¶
The Dual Channel Thermocouple Input series of modules is designed to add thermocouple input channels to Gleeble 500 Series systems and the HDS-V40. Each module may be connected to any available Gleeble PnP port, providing two thermocouple input channels of a given type.
